Online visiting lecture Prof. Dr. Julia Kapelanska Pregowska: Contextualizing Migration and Refugee Policies in Poland and Europe

In the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Law, on October 25, 2023, a traditional introductory lecture was held for students of the new generation of the Master in European Integration program. In this school year, the European Lecture was held by Julia Kapelańska-Pręgowska from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland, on the topic “Contextualizing Migration and Refugee Policies in Poland and Europe”. In the first part of the lecture, the importance of migration in the European Union was particularly emphasized, but also why it is important to study this topic. Chaplain Pregovska then gave an overview of the relevant regulations concerning European migration law and introduced the students to EU migration policies.

The central part of the lecture was devoted to the Polish experience and the application of EU regulations in this area. Finally, in the last part of the lecture, all the previous questions were specifically discussed in the context of human rights. After the lecture, there was a discussion, which was mainly about the issue of integration in plural societies.
